Generation Amazing
Generation Amazing is a social and humanitarian program initiated by the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) in Qatar, using football as a catalyst for positive social change, inclusion, and community development, particularly focusing on youth and addressing social issues worldwide in conjunction with the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Based on my academic and footballing standards, I was chosen to represent my school at this prestigious global event. This remarkable opportunity granted me the chance to not only showcase my skills but also provided me with valuable insights on how to elevate and refine the sport for the better, both as a player and as a fan."
Conferences
During the conferences and assemblies in Generation Amazing, we were taught valuable lessons about social inclusion, gender equality, empowerment, leadership, teamwork, education, life skills, and social responsibility through the transformative power of football. The event truly inspired and educated me. It encouraged me to make a positive impact on my community, by promoting the sport as a catalyst for positive change, both on and off the field.
Activities
Participating in the outdoor activities and classroom sessions has been transformative, fostering the formation of enduring friendships and a profound sense of unity within our community. The outdoor sessions honed our teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship, while also creating strong bonds among us as we worked towards common goals on the field. In the classroom, discussions on social inclusion, gender equality, and the role of athletes in driving positive change not only educated us but also ignited a shared passion for community impact.
All-In Tournament
During the program's final day, we played in an all-in tournament, where each group represented a country in a mini World Cup they had conceived. Fortunately, my team emerged as the champions, granting us the privilege of participating in an exhibition match alongside football legends such as Yaya Toure and Javier Mascherano. Later, David Beckham also made a notable appearance. Meeting and interacting with these iconic figures was an enlightening experience. Watching them play on the same pitch as me, taking them on one-on-one, was an eye-opening opportunity that allowed me to grasp the exceptional skill and standard professional footballers uphold. Moreover, conversing with them exposed me to their remarkable maturity and professionalism, offering valuable insights into the mindset and demeanor required at the highest level of the sport.
LOCAL CLUB
Acknowledging the power of unity, I took the initiative to establish a local community football club. This project brought together both varsity team players and students who were eager to join but hadn't made it onto the official squad.
I coordinated regular training sessions that allowed us to build personal connections, ultimately resulting in a strong synergy on the field. Moreover, we had the chance to take on various other local teams in competitive games and were even extended invitations to partake in our community's cup tournament.
Our diverse group transformed into a tight-knit, passionate community football club, not only sharpening our soccer skills but also nurturing enduring friendships and camaraderie among us. The local club was completely free of charge and open to everyone.
Partnering up with our two sponsors, I was able to design match-day kits for the club.
This experience taught me invaluable lessons in leadership, teamwork, and the power of community. Building the local community football club not only required organizational skills but also the ability to unite individuals with diverse backgrounds and aspirations toward a common goal. The process of designing match-day kits in partnership with sponsors demonstrated the importance of effective collaboration and resource management. Above all, it underscored the profound impact that sports and a shared passion can have in bringing people together, fostering a sense of belonging, and creating a tight-knit community that transcends the boundaries of the playing field.
